Published February 27, 2010 | My family and I usually take a week off in September to travel. Last year we went to Cancun. Where are some good places to travel that are cheap that time of year??? Tropical would be good but anything really.

Poland and Czech Republic. Both Krakow and Prague are great places, not to be missed! and things cost 1/3 to 1/2 what you would pay in western europe.
Kraków is a great place to visit.
Costs are about 1/2 what they are in places like France and Spain on the Euro.

I am from the States and have lived in Belize for about two years. We have found Belize to be a very safe place and, has been mentioned in other comments, if there is a place to worry about it would be Belize City. However, we go to Belize City on a regular basis and as long as you stay in areas where there are many people around there should be no problems. Also, the biggest advantage with Belize is that it is English speaking so it is much easier to get around and communicate with others. We came through Mexico on our way to Belize and it a constant challenge to communicate with people and everything was many times more difficult because of the language barrier.
