Does anyone know of any reasonably priced all inclusive vacations to an island that I wouldn’t need a passport for? (Coming from Boston) Thanks!

Check out both St Thomas, US Virgin Islands AND Puerto Rico. Neither requires a passport of US citizens. They are US territories so its just like going to Hawaii.

Hi there. I really appreciate the nice points you made. I dont think Ive actually thought about it in that way. U.S. citizens are now required to present a valid passport when traveling to the Caribbean region by air. You can travel to the Caribbean without a passport only if you travel by sea on a closed-loop cruise. Of course, this rule does not apply when traveling to U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

There are various sea vessels involved in shipping to caribbean. It may include box boats or container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, ferries, cable layers, dredgers and barges.

    Hi,

What Nena said above is correct. PR feels so much like a foreign country but is a part of the US commonwealth.

Everyone speaks English so it seems, so no problems there.

If you take a cruise or go to Puerto Rico, those are your options at this time and only until Jan 2008. Puerto Rico being a commonwealth of the US, you will never need a passport to tavel there.

Puerto Rico & the US virgin islands are your passport free choices. And actaully there are ferries between them so you can visit them both on the same trip if you have the time.

What I like about Puerto Rico is that you feel like your in a different country but you still have all the convienences of being home. Plus there are gorgeous beaches & so much more.
